Privacy Notice

Second Hand World operates BusinessHub. For the personal data described below, Second Hand World is the data controller — we decide why and how that data is processed. Where you enter your own customers' details into BusinessHub, you are the controller of that information and we process it on your behalf as a processor.

Personal data we collect

• Account data — name, email address and login credentials (passwords are stored only as salted hashes; if you sign in with Google we receive your name, email and profile identifier).
• Business profile data — business name, address, contact details, logo, tax and currency settings.
• Content you create — customers, invoices, line items, payments and balances you record.
• Support data — messages and attachments you send us.
• Technical and usage data — IP address, device and browser information, timestamps, and logs of actions in the app.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

• Creating and managing your account and providing the Service — performance of our contract with you.
• Security, fraud prevention and abuse detection — our legitimate interests in keeping the Service safe.
• Customer support — performance of our contract and our legitimate interests.
• Improving and troubleshooting the product — our legitimate interests in maintaining and improving the Service.
• Marketing emails about BusinessHub — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Meeting legal, accounting and tax obligations — compliance with a legal obligation.

Who we share data with

• Service providers and subprocessors — hosting, database, email delivery and support tooling providers who process data on our instructions.
• Merchant of Record (Paddle) — Paddle handles the sale of subscriptions, subscription management, payments, invoicing, tax compliance and billing support. Paddle collects your billing details directly.
• Professional advisers — legal and accounting advisers where needed.
• Authorities — where disclosure is required by law or to protect legal rights.

We do not sell your personal data.

International transfers

Our providers may process data outside your country, including outside the UK and EEA. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep data

We keep account, business and invoice data for as long as your account is active. After your account is closed we retain it for up to 30 days so you can export or restore it, then delete or anonymise it, except where we must keep records longer to meet legal, tax or accounting obligations. Technical logs are generally kept for up to 12 months.

Security

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage, hashed passwords, row-level access controls so each account can only reach its own records, and least-privilege access for staff. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Your rights

Subject to the law that applies to you, you may request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of processing, a portable copy, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interests or withdraw consent to marketing. To exercise these rights, contact Second Hand World support from your account. We respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA you also have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.

Cookies

We use essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to keep the app secure — these are required for the Service to function. We do not use advertising cookies. Paddle sets its own cookies during checkout, described in Paddle's privacy notice. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though signing in will not work without the essential ones.

Children

BusinessHub is a business tool and is not intended for children.
